Jessie Marquez:
"Sana Locura"
THIS is what's hot on the street. Latin Beat Magazine has called Jessie Marquez an "unknown American
Diva with Cuban roots". Jessie went to Havana in 2004 and recorded this disc with heavy-weights from
Afrocuban Allstars, Irakere, and Issac Delgado's band. It's no wonder the Cubans have taken notice. This
classy debut disc, laced with venerable vocals and countless sauve grooves will stay in your CD rotation
for years. Guaranteed. Check out these two great clips.

Ralph Irizarry and SonCafe:
"Tributo"
NEW!
Another killer album led by timbalero Ralph Irizarry and assisted by Bobby Allende on congas and bongo. Soncafe is a smaller
group of his than the Timbalaye we love. We look at all the discs we carry from a drummer's perspective. This one is
very tight, very percussive, and very danceable. This 1996 recording is essentially 11 tracks (72 minutes) of medleys paying
tribute to Ray Baretto, La Lupe, Pete "El Conde" Rodriquez, and Charlie Palmieri among others. Here's a cut from the
Ray Barretto Medley.

Roots of Rhythm:
Hosted by Harry Belafonte"
This DVD hosted by Harry Belafonte has just been re-issued. This 3-hour DVD features performances
by Tito Puente, Gloria Estefan, Celia Cruz, Dizzy Gillespie, Ruben Blades and many more. It has a ton of
footage from Cuba in the late 80's and some much earlier archived work. Lots of rumba, mambo, changui, and
salsa from the pioneers who created those styles. Because it explores the trans-atlantic dialogue and links
between Africa and Cuba, well, we had to give it two thumbs up!! Recommended.
