While our selections are not inclusive of all that has been recorded, we have tried to pick out the titles that every serious Brazil aficionado should have in their collection. Various Artists: "Carnivals of Brazil: Rio, Recife, Bahia" This is recorded live on the streets of these 3 carnival sites, as you can well tell. Although the sound quality sometimes sounds more like an ocean wave than a samba ensemble, you can feel the pulse of the music and the excitement. Hard to get more real than this. Learn care, tuning, and pandeiro musical fundamentals, including Samba, Capoeira, Partido Alto, and Baiao, with plenty of percussionists who want to teach that tambourine some new tricks. Rough Guide: "Brazil: Bahia" Another gem from the Rough Guide Series that goes to the heart of Brazilian music.
